'The Planet & Smart Cities: The future of food: Can food systems work in partnership with nature?  The way we produce food is the number one threat to nature, driving accelerating loss and degradation of lands and waters, climate change and declining productivity in farms, fields, forestry and fisheries. This amounts to trillions of dollars in lost benefits from nature — such as clean water and climate mitigation — that affect millions, if not billions, of people globally. This session explores the role that technology can play in creating more sustainable food systems and livelihoods for farmers, while enhancing natural ecosystems for the benefit of biodiversity and climate.
