'Hannah Moloney shows how to make simple wax wraps to replace single-use plastic when wrapping or covering food. Subscribe: http://ab.co/GA-subscribe What you need: 17.5g pine resin mortar and pestle tall jar 3 tsp jojoba or coconut oil 50g beeswax Double boiler Pieces of 100% cotton cloth Baking tray Baking paper A paint brush that you don’t want to use again! Oven How to do it: Use a pestle and mortar to break up the pine resin until it is a fine dust. Empty the resin dust into the jar and add the jojoba oil. Break up or grate the beeswax and add this. Place the jar into a double boiler and heat for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cut the cotton fabric into useful-sized shapes. Preheat oven to 180C. Place one on a baking tray lined with baking paper, then paint it with the molten wax mixture, making sure you get right to the edges. Place the tray in the oven for just 1-2 minutes, so help the wax absorb into the fabric. Taking care not to burn yourself, carefully pick up the hot fabric and swing it gently in the air until it has cooled and set - this only takes a few moments. Once it’s set, it’s ready to use!
