'In the soulless, god forsaken, commercial & epicurean wasteland that is Eversholt Street you\'d be forgiven for thinking that there are only seedy places like \"Secrets\" fully nude, table dancing / pole lap dancing venue or the numerous squalid sex book & video shops..........but look a little bit more beyond the dull & grey and you will find a shining star aptly named \"ROTI KING\"; hidden away in a basement on Doric Way, just opposite Euston Station, Camden, London, NW1. Roti King defies first impressions. The basement has been refurbished on a tight budget..........but the people queuing outside the door waiting patiently give the ultimate and true seal of approval. Chose when you visit according to how much time you have, chose to come at the midday lunch rush & you may have a bit of a wait; visit after the lunch rush has ended & you won\'t have long to wait..............either way you will be safe in knowing the wait will be worth it, especially as most Roti\'s offered are priced between £3.00 to £5.50. This restaurant has made the Roti grill the centre of attention where you can watch the Roti master work his magic, it is magically hand spun & stretched until its it\'s paper thin & then heated.......each Roti order is theatrically cooked to order over an open griddle; for some dishes, it’s filled with a choice of either savoury veg or non-veg fillings (or even sweet filling for dessert) & then heated in a very similar way to an Indian Masala Dosa or even a French Crepe Suzette/Galette or Chinese Jian Bing. Roti Canai, as the name suggests is a type of flaky flatbread and is a popular Street Food in Malaysia, Singapore; there is no secret to the recipe - the dough is made from a mix of: Plain Flour, Condensed Milk, Water, Sugar, Salt & Oil. Malaysian food is a fascinating fusion, you can find it influenced by Malay, Chinese, Indian and Thai dishes - this is reflected in the restaurant menu as the restaurant also has Chinese and Malay dishes. Here\'s a link to Roti King\'s Facebook page:: https://www.facebook.com/rotikinglondon/info You can also phone them on:020 7387 2518. Sitting in this restaurant with the sights, sounds & smells; you could just as easily feel you are sitting somewhere in a cafe / restaurant in Singapore........absolutely fantastic !!! The King is back - long live the King !!! Video recorded October 2014.'
