The addition of carrots makes it rich in vitamin a and fibre. This recipe is a good way of introducing a mildly spiced meal to your baby\'s diet. Preparation Time: 15 minutes. Cooking Time: 15 minutes. Makes 1 cup. 1½ tbsp peeled and grated bottle gourd (doodhi / lauki) 2 tbsp peeled and grated carrot 2 tbsp rice (chawal), washed and drained 2 tbsp green moong dal (split green gram), washed and drained ½ tsp ghee ¼ tsp cumin seeds (jeera) A pinch of asafoetida (hing) 1 black peppercorn (kalimirch) 1 clove (laung / lavang) A pinch of turmeric powder (haldi) Salt to taste For serving Fresh curds (dahi) 1. Heat the ghee in a pressure cooker and add the cumin seeds. 2. When the seeds crackle, add the asafoetida, clove, peppercorn, bottlegourd, carrot, green moong dal, rice, turmeric powder, salt and 1¼ cups of water, mix well and pressure cook for 3 whistles. 3. Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid. 4. When it is done, remove the peppercorn and clove. Mash a little with the back of a spoon. Serve lukewarm with fresh curds.
