'Two chiefs arrested for allegedly stealing and selling relief food'

'Two Chiefs in Isiolo county were arrested and will face charges related to stealing and selling relief food supplied by government. Local administrators have been warned against stealing and selling of relief food being distributed to drought-hit areas within their jurisdictions. Speaking in Merti, Isiolo County, Devolution and Planning CS Mwangi Kiunjuri said those caught will not be spared and will be jailed together with the people they sell food to. The two arrested chiefs were spotted by locals selling relief food to one of the local stores in Merti town. Isiolo County Commissioner, George Natembea confirmed the two chiefs were in police custody and will be taken to court but also asked the communities to be extra vigilant. Kiunjuri spoke in Sericho, Eresaboru, Garba Tula, Merti and Biliko in Isiolo County, where he helped distribute relief food.'
